Skype for Linux

First make sure you have all the proper repositories installed. This will allow you to install all the correct software you need.

$ nano /etv/apt/source.list

deb http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main
deb-src http://security.debian.org/ jessie/updates main

deb http://httpredir.debian.org/debian jessie main contrib non-free
deb-src http://httpredir.debian.org/debian jessie main contrib non-free

Once you have all the repositories updated, run an upgrade, update and a dist-upgrade.


Lets begin.

Step 1. Go to Skype’s main website and download the debian 7.0 multiarch file.

Step 2. Save the skype-debian.deb file and download it to your Linux box.

Step 3. Fine the download file and double click it.

Step 4. After double click, a package installer will pop up. Assuming that everything is correct with the file you just download, you can go ahead and install it.

Step 5. Should there be any issues or errors sating that the some files were not installed correctly. Open up a terminal session and type the following.

$ apt-get install -f

This will correct any installation issues that you may have…  Now that everything is working properly, go ahead and give skype a test run.
