Building your Atlassian APP server.

We’ll assume that your server is ready to have the software deployed on it.

yum y install wget epel-release

cd /tmp | wget

Afer the file has been downloaded, well need to make sure we can execute the file too.

chmod +x atlassian-confluence-6.14.1-x64.bin

This next part is critical so do not skip it. You need to download mysql conector v5.1.47 –

cd /tmp | wget

Once you have that file downloaded, got ahead and unzip the files use the tar command to do it too.

 tar -xvf mysql-connector-java-5.1.47.tar.gz  | cd mysql-connector-java-5.1.47.tar.gz

Find the bin.jar file if you are using this connector with linux and copy it to the following direcory

cp mysql-connector-java-5.1.47-bin.jar /opt/atlassian/confluence/confluence/WEB-INF/lib

Now we can go back to the /tmp folder and start installing confluence, or Jira, on the server.  You will get the following output:

Unpacking JRE ...

Now that that has been completed. Start gui on the local server. Then open up Firefox and go to localhost:8090. Once there, you will begin to setup your Jira server and configure the database connection.

  1. use the username and password that you configured for the database
  2. make sure that you have the right port, 3306 is the default port, and ip address of the sql server
  3. make sure to test the connection before proceeding.

After going through the database connection configuration section, feel free to follow the on screen instructions and start playing with confluence or jira.
